Mane Mishap

When you have a good hair day its the best. And when its bad, you want to hide. At least I know I try to. Well I am going to tell you about my experience with Wen hair care.

Its odd from the start. Most people are used to lather, rise, repeat. This does not do that, so it takes some getting used to. You just let it sit in your hair for the length of your shower then rise with cool water. You're supposed to use it as the shampoo and conditioner. It's a bit of a time saver, sorta. You can leave it your hair for as long as you like but to no avail.

In all honesty the smell was different to say the least. I think it was sweet almond mint. It sounds more appealing than what it really is. It's not like it smells like puke, but just not what I was expecting. If Wen were  to smell more fresh or clean I might have kept the other items. The smell just kept reminding me of medicine. That could be just me but I paid for it so I would like to enjoy the smell of the junk in my hair.

The mint  was a shock to me too. It kind of hurt my scalp the first time I used it. I quickly built a tolerance, just wish there was some warning or something. So anyone who has a sensitive scalp beware!

Most of all it just did not deliver on making my hair more manageable, softer, or even shinier. The only time my hair was soft was when I was rinsing Wen out. I wanted to keep my curly/wavy hair as natural as possible. Wen did not provide that. My hair was a fuzzy mess by the end of the day. The next morning was the worst. Trying to comb out the tangles my hair produced through out the previous day were very painful. Never have I had to section my hair to comb it thoroughly.

Overall I was not pleased, to say the least. I will never buy Wen hair care again. Nor will I recommend this to a friend. If anyone wants to give it a try by all means go ahead. The only positive thing is that Guthy-Renker will give you a full refund of your money. I was actually amazed that I was able to use almost all of the cleanser (I have thick wavy hair) and still return it. If it wasn't for the full refund part I would absolutely hate Wen. It just wasn't for me.

Good luck to all who try Wen. May it favor your hair better than mine. I'm on to the next product to review.
